Amazon app store for Android is an app store for the Android device that allows us to download and install Android OS apps launched by Amazon.com. It was initially started on 22 March 2011 and provided its services to over 200 countries globally. Developers are paid 70% of the minimum price of an app or in-app purchase.

On 18 June 2014, BlackBerry declares the official bond with Amazon that includes the Amazon App store's access right in BlackBerry.

Features of Amazon app store

Amazon Appstore provides a feature called "Free App of the Day." In this feature, Amazon offers a free application (mostly a game) to users. Another feature is "Test Drive," which allows users to test an application on their web browser. To test an app, the user should launch a virtual copy of Android in the Amazon EC2 cloud and try for half an hour. Amazon also introduces Amazon Coins to make a payment for purchasing games, apps, and in-app purchases from the Amazon App store.

How to install Amazon Appstore on an Android device

Amazon runs promotions app for a limited time, including dozens of apps, games, utilities and many more for free. However, being Amazon does not doubt using an Amazon product. To take advantage of Amazon Appstore offers, we need a Fire Phone, Kindle Fire tablet, etc. We can also access Amazon Appstore from any Android OS devices running on Android 4.4 or later versions.

Follow the below steps to install the Amazon Appstore app on Android:

1. Download Amazon Appstore

  1. Open your favorite browser and visit com/getappstore.
  2. Click on the "Get Amazon Appstore" to download the .APK file.
  3. Double click on the downloaded APK file and follow the instructions.

2. Enable unknown sources

  1. Open your Android device and go to Settings > Security (Applications based on device).
  2. Scroll down and find the "Unknown source" option and enable this feature.

3. Install and launch Amazon Appstore

  1. Once the .APK file download gets completed, swipe down from the top of the screen and find the "Amazon Appstore APK file."
  2. Click on the .APK file to install and agree with the permissions.
  3. Once the installation gets successfully, launch the Amazon Appstore.
