The AMBER Alert is a national emergency alert system that is designed to help and locate kidnapped children. If any child goes missing in your area, there is a good chance that you will receive an Amber Alert on your phone. This alert system gives you information about both the kidnapped child and the doubtful kidnapper. It spreads important information among society and increases the possibility of finding the missing child.

By default, the smartphone gives a notification alert whenever the Amber Alert goes on in your area. Most devices even get a ring when they are silent. You can receive an Amber Alert at any time on the day.

Method 1: Turn off Amber alerts on Samsung smartphones:

  1. Launch the device's Messages
  2. Click on the menu (three vertical dots) icon just next to the search button.
  3. Now, go to Settings
  4. Select Emergency alert settings.
  5. Click on the Emergency alerts
  6. Now, on the next screen look for the Amber alerts option and turn this option to off.

Method 2: Turn off Amber alerts on Samsung smartphones:

  1. Go to device's Settings > Connections > More connection settings.
  2. Click on the Wireless emergency alerts.
  3. Again click on Settings.
  4. Now, tap on the Alert types option.
  5. Finally, turn AMBER alerts off.

How to turn off Amber alert on OnePlus smartphones

To free oneself from Amber alert on OnePlus phones such as OnePlus 9 Pro, follow the below-given steps:

  1. Launch the device's Messages app.
  2. Click on the menu (three vertical dots) icon present at top-right of screen.
  3. Click on the Settings option.
  4. Choose Wireless alerts.
  5. Click on the menu icon.
  6. Click on the Settings options.
  7. Look for the Amber alerts and turn them off.

How to turn off Amber alerts on LG phones

To turn off Amber Alert on LG smartphones, there are two different ways that work on LG phones like V60 ThinQ.

Method 1: Turn off Amber alerts in LG smartphone:

  1. Launch the device's Messages app.
  2. Click on the menu icon of the screen.
  3. Click on the Settings options.
  4. Select the Emergency alerts option.
  5. Look for the Amber alerts and disable this option.

Method 2: Turn off Amber alerts in LG smartphone:

  1. Go to device's Settings > Network & internet > Wireless Emergency Alerts.
  2. Click on the menu icon present at the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Click on the Settings option.
  4. Look for the Amber alerts and disable this option.

How to turn off AMBER alerts on an iPhone

  1. Launch the Setting app and click on the Notifications option.
  2. Scroll down the screen up to the Government Alerts section. Here you can turn off the AMBER Alerts option, along with some other alerts systems: Emergency Alerts and Public Safety Alerts.

How to turn off AMBER Alerts on an Older Android Phone

To turn off the AMBER Alerts on some of the older Android phones, follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. Launch the Messaging app of your device.
  2. Click on the menu (three vertical dots) icon present at the top-right corner of the Messaging screen.
  3. Now form the menu list, select Settings.
  4. Tap on the More option under Advanced.
  5. Tap on the Emergency Alerts that appear at the bottom of the list.
  6. Finally, uncheck the box next to the AMBER alerts. There are also other alerts features that you can able to disable or enable:
    • State/Local test alerts.
    • Public Safety Alerts.
    • Imminent extreme alerts.
    • Imminent severe alerts.

If you don't like the loud sound alert of AMBER and even want to receive this alert on your device, there is an alternate option for you. Scroll down to the Alerts menu and disable the Alert Sounds slider. You can set vibration alerts "on" if you want to vibrate your phone if such alerts came. There is also an option to turn off this setting for only text notifications.

Emergency Alerts Explained

Along with Amber Alerts, most Android phones also offer settings for other alerts type features. Such alerts are Wireless Emergency Alerts which are sent through your mobile carrier by authorized government alert officials. Customers don't have to pay any connection or data charges for such Wireless Emergency Alerts messages. Some of the alerts include:

  1. Weather alerts include warnings sent for:
    • Tsunamis.
    • Tornado and Flash Flood Warnings.
    • Hurricane, Typhoon, Dust Storm, and Extreme Wind Warnings.
  2. State/Local alerts include notifications for:
    • Emergency requiring evacuation.
    • Emergency requiring immediate action.

By default, the State/Local testing alerts are disabled in mobile phones. You can enable these alerts in your emergency notifications settings if you wish.
